A couple of typical beach-facing 2BHK apartments were converted into Airbnb rental homes through alterations in spatial planning. The apartments were finished with interior design cues inspired by their strong context—the beaches of Pondicherry and its rich French culture. The floors were done in a myriad of blues and whites; wainscoting on walls, finished in off-white or grey paint, leaned into the European era. The kitchen cabinets and accessories in warm wooden shades, subtle furniture, and fluted glass doors all come together to create a vacation space that is pristine, refreshing, and energizing—just like the sea itself.
