Designed for a couple approaching their empty-nest years—with children soon to move out—the structure prioritizes ease of access, cost-efficiency, and innovative spatial planning. To avoid the need for a lift and to make optimal use of the ground space, the house was designed using the split house concept i.e. mezzanine levels were introduced at every landing.
The design ensures that a functional space is reached every 10 steps. From the living hall, one flight of stairs leads to the kitchen, and another flight ascends to the lounge, which branches out into the bedrooms in a similar fashion. This tiered layout allows for redefining roof levels and vertical zoning of spaces while maintaining physical closeness.
The configuration also makes it possible to have a defined main entry—like a typical villa—while accommodating stilt-level parking below. Strategically placed punctures along the northern wall and roof create dynamic shadow patterns throughout the day. Telescopic balconies are adjacent and interactive, adding depth and interest to the elevation.
