The client wanted the largeness of the house to come alive in the way the interiors were treated, while being partial to a feeling of intimacy in the private spaces. In short, the brief was to design a home that partially flaunted and partially comforted.

To accommodate these opposites, the design concept focused on the experiential journey through the home rather than individual spaces and their treatment. The transition from the outer layers of the home to the innermost is characterized by a paced increase in intimacy. The public spaces are treated in a light and cheery manner – volumes dressed to exhibit openness – while the private spaces are sober and cozy, undercutting the flamboyance. The materials curated for this project were picked with care to enhance this core concept – a base shell finished in ivory tones making the perfect backdrop; wood for its versatility – a timeless material that exudes charm and familiarity; highlights of elite marble that glamourise the interiors, are cool to the touch and add finesse and elegance; hand plasters in grey that add a rustic undertone to the classy interiors. Curated lighting added bling, transforming the interiors from big to sophisticated. The lighting design of the lounge was inspired by night time starry skies.
