SHARON's KITCHEN

A dear friend’s villa in Casa Grand Pallagio opened out into a backyard that bordered the serene Pallikarnai marsh. Their dream was to transform this slice of the outdoors into a fully functional kitchen — a space that could serve both as a cookhouse and a place to soak in the spectacular sunsets over the marsh. The design challenge lay in addressing a number of site-specific constraints: integrating outdoor plumbing ducts into the design without compromising aesthetics, enclosing the kitchen without resorting to permanent structures, and rethinking the conventional kitchen layout to eliminate upper cabinets — all while keeping the bugs and crawlies at bay.

The final design brought together utility and atmosphere in equal measure. Clad in hues of olive green and soft grey, the kitchen came alive during golden hour, catching the evening light and shimmering like a kaleidoscope. It was a space built not just for cooking, but for lingering.
